Diploma in French Language Studies (DELF)

Prepare the students for the DELF Prim and DELF Junior exams

EFGH prepares FLE and FLAM students for the DELF Prim and DELF Junior exams.

Since 2019, France Education International, operating under the French Ministry of National Education, has allowed FLAM associations in the U.S. to offer testing for the Diplôme d’études en langue française (DELF).

As a member of the FLAM network, EFGH is considered a DELF testing site. EFGH instructors are trained as proctors and graders and are certified to grade the exams.

The DELF certifies competency in the French language. It is a way for those outside of France to demonstrate their level of French via an internationally recognized diploma. Within France, new immigrants take the DELF Prim.
The DELF diploma may also be required to enroll in Francophone universities or to immigrate to or work in a Francophone country. There are various levels of the diploma, ranging from A1.1 to C2.

What is the DELF Prim?

The DELF Prim is the first stage diploma for French as a foreign language (FLE) issued by the French Ministry of National Education. It is aimed at children studying French at the elementary level and consists of independent diplomas for different levels and each of four language skills:

  • Listening
  • Reading
  • Speaking
  • Writing

What is the DELF Junior?

The DELF Junior is structured like the DELF Prim but is aimed at high school students. The only difference is the topics covered, which are designed to suit slightly older audiences. The DELF Junior consists of independent diplomas for different levels and each of four language skills:

  • Listening
  • Reading
  • Speaking
  • Writing

EFGH prepares your children

EFGH has chosen to teach its students as if they were preparing for the DELF exam and to use different teaching methods for each level of learning. Our instructors partner with an assistant specializing in speaking skills to form small groups of students to practice speaking French.
The DELF exam is open to students who can read and write in French. Upon request, instructors will evaluate students and recommend the most appropriate exam.

Registering for the exam

EFGH is an exam center for its students. Exams are held in April or May. Outside of France, registration fees are dictated by the Department of Cooperation and Cultural Action within the French embassy and the National Commission.
