About EFGH

The EFGH Team

The EFGH Team
EFGH is a non-profit organization and a diverse community of students, parents, and teachers with the same educational and cultural goals. We offer our students a rigorous curriculum so they can grow bilingual and be ready to become citizens of the world.
Our dedicated curriculum team helps them master speaking, reading, and writing French.

Instructors

Our team is composed of dedicated, experienced instructors. EFGH organizes periodic continuing education for its teachers specific to the needs of bilingual education in the Français Langue Maternelle (FLAM) and Français Langue Etrangère (FLE) curriculum.
Our classes are capped at 15 students. Younger classes are provided with an additional assistant.

Meet Marie Nicolas, EFGH Teaching Coordinator

What exactly does a teaching coordinator do?
The teaching coordinator supervises and coordinates instructors and oversees student learning. I also design programs and educational materials for our students, create and administer assessments, ensure students are settled into their classes, train the instructors, and organize testing sessions. It’s an exciting role with a wide range of duties.

Do you follow a specific program?
One of my duties is to design specific curricula for each class and to choose the proper teaching methods for our FLAM and FLE programs. Our FLAM syllabus is based on the language, spelling, and grammar objectives of the French Ministry of National Education while also incorporating lessons on francophone cultures. Our FLE syllabus is based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL) objectives.

We track our students closely to adapt our programs to their needs. We are also proud to offer an AP French program for high school students who have grown up with EFGH. Since 2020, EFGH has offered a DELF preparation course. For many of our students, passing the DELF exam has long-term benefits if they want to work or attend college in a French-speaking country.

How do you work together with the instructors?
The teaching coordinator and instructors must work together to maintain consistent programs and classroom practices. I regularly observe classes, sometimes at the request of instructors seeking support on a classroom project. I also organize training sessions through collaborations between the instructors and me to ensure everyone is on the same page about EFGH’s educational goals.
