Registration

How do I register?

To enroll your student for the academic year, you must register online.
School begins in September.
Families can enroll or re-enroll their students starting April 1. Registration is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
The first payment must be made no later than the beginning of September for the student to be allowed to attend class.

Can I register my child for one semester only? Can I register my child once the school year has started?

We do not accept enrollment for single semesters. Our curriculum is designed for 28 classes and requires an entire school year.
If you are new to the area and would like to register your child after the school year has begun, contact directeur@efghouston.org. Requests will be evaluated case-by-case after considering the students’ skill levels.

Can my child try out a class?

We do not offer trial periods. We ask that families commit to an entire school year.

Payment

How much is the registration fee?

As a non-profit organization, we try to keep tuition as affordable as possible without sacrificing the quality of education or the longevity of EFGH.
The registration fee per student is:

  • $100 if registering before June 1
  • $200 if registering after June 1
The fee must be paid at the time of registration and is non-refundable.
Families who move to Houston after June 1 may receive a $100 discount if they provide proof that they arrived after this date.

How much is tuition?

Tuition for the school year is:

  • $1,500 for students in the FLAM program
  • $1,000 for students in the FLE program

What payment methods do you accept?

You can pay:

  • by check (free) to the order of EFGH: in a single payment, directly sent to EFGH, 14119 Swallowfield Dr, Houston TX 77077-1423.
  • By Zelle using email directeur@efghouston.org
  • ACH (plus 1% bank charge)
  • by credit card: in one, two, three, or four payments plus 3% bank charge per payment.

What are the penalties for late or rejected payments?

We ask that you make your payments by the deadline. A $25 late fee will be automatically added if your payment arrives more than seven days late or is rejected. If you have any concerns, please contact directeur@efghouston.org.

Is there a discount for registering more than one child?

Receive 5% off of total tuition costs when you enroll a second child. The discount does not apply to registration fees.

Is financial aid available?

Scholarships may be offered based on a family’s financial needs. They are generally capped at 50% of the total tuition. Financial aid does not apply to registration fees ($100).
Scholarship applications are due to EFGH by July 31. Acceptance letters are sent out no later than August 31.
For special payment arrangements, please contact directeur@efghouston.org.

Cancellation

What if I want to cancel my registration or withdraw my child?

If you cancel your registration before classes begin in September, you will be refunded your full tuition fee. The registration fee is non-refundable.
If your child withdraws from a class after the school year has begun, your tuition fee will be refunded pro-rated for the academic year. Refunds are given only in the event of severe medical emergencies. A doctor’s note is required.

Does EFGH cancel classes?

EFGH reserves the right to cancel a class temporarily or permanently.

  • Temporarily: If a teacher cannot teach their class, we will do everything possible to find a replacement. If the school is closed, we will offer a makeup class later.
  • Permanently: We open up new classes based on demand. If there are not enough students for a class or no teacher is available, the class may not be offered.

What is your refund policy?

If your child’s class is canceled due to low enrollment, no more spots appropriate for your child’s skill level, or no teachers are available, all tuition and registration fees will be refunded.
If a class is canceled in the middle of the school year, EFGH will refund tuition pro-rated for the academic year.

Classes

What kind of classes do you offer?

EFGH offers French classes to students K-12. Students must be at least four years old on September 1 to be accepted into our classes.
FLAM (Français Langue Maternelle) classes are aimed at children raised in French-speaking families. FLE (Français Langue Étrangère) classes are aimed at children just starting to learn French and being raised in a non-French-speaking family.
Both classes include preparation for the DELF Prim and Junior exams.
EFGH also offers French classes for parents of enrolled students.

When and where are classes held?

All classes are held on Saturday mornings at The Awty International School at 7455 Awty School Lane, Houston, TX 77055. FLAM classes are held from 9 AM to 12 PM, and FLE classes are held from 9 AM to 11 AM.
COVID-19 information: The classes can be offered alternately on campus or online according to the guidance and decisions from the State of Texas and Harris County, the health authorities, and the EFGH administration.

How are classes organized?

Students are evaluated individually after enrollment to determine the appropriate FLE or FLAM class for their speaking, comprehension, reading, writing, and grammar level. Evaluations take place in June and August.
Classes are conducted in French, and our teaching materials are exclusively French.
Classes take place on 28 Saturdays between September and May. They are taught by a teacher and, for kindergarten and elementary level classes, an assistant.

What are my responsibilities as a parent?

Learning a language is a sustained, long-term commitment. Before enrolling your child, we ask that you ensure that you intend to have them attend class regularly for the entire school year.
Support and motivation from the family are essential to student success. When possible, we recommend that you encourage learning by offering your students games, reading material, and movies related to francophone culture and by speaking, playing, reading, and cooking in French as much as possible.

School rules

What are the school rules?

Students must follow school and their teachers’ and assistants’ rules, which include being respectful and courteous, following instructions, and being cooperative and disciplined. Families receive a parents’ guide at the start of the year with helpful information and more details.
EFGH reserves the right to temporarily or permanently suspend any student whose classroom behavior negatively impacts other students or the conduct of the class. The tuition fees will not be refunded in the event of a permanent suspension.

What happens if I pick up my child late?

We ask that you respect the class start and end times. EFGH reserves the right to charge $5 per 5 minutes of delay if you are late picking up your child after class.
Prior written authorization is required for another person to pick up your child, whether occasionally or regularly, and should be sent to secretaire@efghouston.org.
